She graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Art History at Columbia University in 2007. In 2017, she was a part of the daytime talk program The View where she co-hosted until 2021. She was awarded the show's four Daytime Emmy award nominations for her work. McCain has also become an Daily Mail contributor after her 3-year tenure at The View. McCain authored four books as well, The Story of My Dad John McCain (2008), Dirty Sexy Politics (2010), America You Sexy Bitch A Love-Letter to Freedom, in 2012 with Michael Ian Black and Bad Republican 2022.
